Fashion Trend: Midi Length & Giveaway Winner Announced

One of the things I love the most about working at Anthropologie is seeing all the new beautiful pieces coming in. Most of the time I’m oohing and ahhing at the fresh shipment that’s delivered. It’s always interesting seeing people’s initial reactions to certain items. For instance, I recently had a co-worker say to me, “Did you see that new dress with bunnies on it?” In a scoffing tone that clearly meant ‘I’d never ever wear that.’ The next day, I had a different co-worker want to buy the dress because it had bunnies on it.

It’s very similar to what I experience helping customers in the fitting room. I love hearing people’s thoughts on various articles of clothing. We critique: fit, color, machine wash or not, length and versatility of the garment.

Recently, the item causing the most debate is this seasons hemline of choice: The Midi length.

I’ve been seeing more and more of this Midi length popping up and I have to say I’m sort of undecided. I’m not sure it will flatter several figures and varying heights.

 As someone who is 5’11 it has always been hard for me to find maxi skirts long enough to reach beyond my ankles, so with this new trend I should be excited. All my too short maxi’s are suddenly in fashion masquerading as Midis. However, I’ve grown so accustom to resenting that gap between low calf and feet–it feels odd to now highlight it.

Have you noticed Midis emerging? After seeing a few different examples of this length above, I’d love to hear your thoughts on it… Do you like this midi-not-quite-long-enough-to-be-a-maxi-skirt length? Would you wear it yourself?
