French Fix

Last Friday (not four days ago, but the Friday before that) I went to get my nails done for my bridal shower. A diehard mani/pedi fan, I now try to only go to nail salons for special occasions, and when I do I often get a French manicure. I certainly cannot do one myself, and it makes me feel sophisticated and extra polished (no pun intended). This said, my trusty little French manicure often chips within a few days, not terribly, but enough so that it sort of ruins the original intention. So… I came up with a solution. When my French starts to chip, I grab my favorite glitter nail polish:

Said chips

When picking a glitter nail polish, try to pick one with the bigger flecks of glitter as opposed to the super-tiny flecks. They cover up the chips more effectively. I grabbed this “Fergie” Wet’n'Wild one (pause for reaction) at a drug store on a whim, but perhaps you’d like to try one of these.

Simply dab two coats of your glitter over just the white part of your nail; you’ll see how the glitter starts to camouflage the chips!

Let dry and then paint one layer of a clear top coat; let dry and voila!

It will turn out differently based on the color and thickness of your glitter, but will extend the life of your manicure for another 3-5 days! Any other manicure “cheats” you lovelies have figured out? I’d love to know!

And congratulations to our giveaway winner – Regina!!! Please e-mail us at your soonest convenience with size, style, and shipping info! We hope you love your new LBD.

P.S. How sweet is the little heart my manicurist put on my ring finger?! Love.

Ps. Your nails look fab. Glitter makes everything better!!!

  2. I am the same way – totally can’t do my nails myself. I think I lack a great deal of hand coordination. Glitter polish always makes things better. Congrats on your engagement!

  3. That’s actually a great idea.
