Golden at the Globes

Happy award season friends! Award shows have always been a big deal in my family; my mom actually went into labor with me in the middle of the night after watching the Oscars. Growing up, my mom, sister and I would have mini Oscar parties complete with pizza and sparkling cider, and we’d get to stay up past our bed time to see who won Best Picture. Aside from being glamorous and amazing, they are very nostalgic for me.

Of course I love seeing who wins and hearing the wide range of acceptance speaches, but let’s be honest, it’s the dresses I look forward to weeks in advance. I thought on the whole, the dresses this year were stunning. There are always your stand outs and your what was her stylist thinking, but for the most part I think the ladies of Hollywood did alright. I noticed a few trends encapsulating most of the collection – sheer lace, cut-outs, and plunging necklines – three characteristics that can be major faux pas if not done correctly, but these silver screen sirens pulled them off with flying colors. Below are a few pieces that I wouldn’t mind having in my own closet.

What do you think? Who was your favorite this year? I also want to say that I am so happy for Jessica Chastain, Anne Hathaway, and all the winners at the 2013 Golden Globes. It’s so inspiring to see people get rewarded for hard work and amazing performances. Just a mere six weeks until the Oscars, let the dress dreaming begin!
