The Liebster Award

We are so honored today to announce that we have been nominated by the cuties over at Lynn+Lou for the Liebster Award! For those of you unfamiliar with the award, it is somewhat of a “pay it forward” acknowledgment from blogger to blogger for their achievements, and to encourage acknowledgment of said blog. It’s basically the blogging community saying, “hey, we think you’re awesome – let’s share the love.” If you chose to accept the nomination (which we totally do), here’s the drill:

2. Answer the 11 questions provided by your nominator, offer 11 random facts about yourself, and come up with 11 questions for your own nominees!

1. When did you start your blog and why?

We decided to start the blog when Meg moved to LA as a way to stay involved in each other’s day to day lives; established July 2012!

 

2. Where is “home” to you?

We were both born and raised in Encinitas, CA!

 

3. Do you collect anything, if so what?

M: The first thing that comes to mind are functional animal things; ie: an owl bottle opener, hedgehog nail brush, giraffe vase…

A: My dad and I use to collect coins; I don’t anymore but I still love the collection. 

 

4. Where is your happy place?

M: Wherever my family is.

A: When I’m with my family and holding our chubby cat, Pepper.

 

5. What is your favorite go-to outfit?

M: Depends on the season; for fall/winter – leggings, boots, sweater, scarf; for spring/summer – breezy sun dresses and sandals.

A: I love denim. So I’m often either wearing a denim chambray shirt or jeans–sometimes both at the same time. I do love a good flouncy dress here and there though! 

 

6. What/ who/ where inspires you the most?

M: Yoga, my Dad, the mountains/forest.

A: My grandma. Emma Ida Ford McGregor

 

7. Solids or prints? What’s more dominant in your closet?

M: It’s close, but slightly more solids.

A: Solids. Most of my wardrobe is white, black or gray. I do love pops of color and pattern but you can’t beat neutrals in my opinion! 

 

8. Favorite childhood memory?

M: Saturday mornings during the summer; our Dad would wake us up with music blasting through the house and we’d spend all day in the pool or at the beach playing.

A: Every holiday Meg and I would bake cut out cookies with our mom. We’d invite our friends and pig out on cookies and frosting all day. We’d end the day doused in flour and in a sugar-coma.

 

9. Favorite fashion trend?

M: I am so in love with a good chambray; any wash, any way, I’ll take it!

A: Right now I’d have to say short boots. Meg isn’t a fan but I just love them! 

 

10. What is your favorite book, magazine, or author?

M: J.K. Rowling; Dan Brown takes a close second.

A: I recently finished The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin–I love her writing, it’s so relatable. If I’m grabbing a magazine it’s either: Cosmopolitan, US weekly or Vogue.

 

11. Who is your go-to person for advice?

M: My fiance and my sister.

 A: I am very blessed by a plethora of sounding boards, I would say all my family and close friends. 

 

Random Facts

 

About Meg:

 

1. I’ve never seen “Saved by the Bell” (gasp! I know, that one really gets people).

2. My feet are two different sizes.

3. I have a deep-seeded (albeit arbitrary) love for teepees and chicken pot pie.

4. I was almost the Gerber baby.

 

About Allison:

 

1. Beauty and the Beast is my all time favorite Disney movie. 

2. My favorite drinks in the world are fresh squeezed orange juice and freshly brewed iced tea.

3. I am 100% a cat person. 

4. I’ve donated 12 inches of my hair four times for Locks of Love. I plan on donating more. 

 

About both of us:

 

1. We’re distantly related to Henry Ford, that’s right, of Ford Motors (no, we don’t get free cars).

2. Our elbows are double jointed.

3. We both became Aunts and will become wives in 2013.
